JULY UPDATE

Update It’s been a while since the last update. As usual there has been a fair bit of activity around the club. Thank You… Earlier in the year we had flood damage from a leaking roof over the bar area This was fixed with the proceeds of an insurance claim. The initial water damage was dried and carpet cleaned by Best Clean. The leaking roof repaired, a new ceiling added (Thank you Duran Hall) and the office computer and printer replaced. Peter Conlon has done a great job in coordinating this work. It’s been good to lean on our sponsors for much of this work. Something very new “Best Clean Weekly $250 Lucky Card Draw” Congratulations to Tazzy Self, the first winner of our first $250 voucher There will be a weekly members card draw every week for the next few weeks so come out and play for your chance to win Huge thanks to Petr and Odessa Skvaril who have generously donated a $250 voucher for each winner. New Drainage If you have played lately you will have seen the evidence of the next stage of our drainage program. A flood relief grant from the State Government has helped us block water flowing in to low areas on the 2nd and 4th fairways and repair flood damage along the western boundary. A big thank you to Brad Innes- our excavator driver for sourcing appropriate soil and skill fully making good. Last week, drainage issues in the paddock to the left of the 2nd hole were fixed by Wayne French Burnie Isuzu Eagle Nest Winners Congratulations to Gary, Andrew and Michael for the most recent plucking of the Eagles Nest. Thank you to Burnie Isuzu for providing the nest eggs. Honor Board Upgrade Life Member, Ron with Alan Jamieson have undertaken a project to upgrade the ho boards that hang in the clubhouse. They need your help. Please contact Ron if you have been skillful or lucky enough to have had a hole in one within the past 6 or 7 years.Text Ron on 0409 311 925 New Tyres The orange Kioti, ATV has receive new low tread tyres helping it to leave a much less aggressive impression on the course. Coming Events Watch out for the August Trivia night - Date to be confirmed Seabrook Shield Oct 14 and 15 The Annual Tournament has been set for Oct 14 and 15. Last years winners enjoyed their weekend of golf on King Island. Please contact Peter, Jade or Duran if you can help with organising or providing sponsorship for this bonaza event. They are currently collecting sponsorship and prizes. This year the club raffle will be drawn at the end of play on the Sunday. (Hannah and Bron are organising this - they will need help organising prizes. Course Maintenance A big thank you to our volunteers who are stepping up to help while Heath – our green keeper is on 2 weeks holiday. Our part time green keeper – Michael is cutting the greens during this time and volunteers are coving the rest of the maintenance. (Thank you Noddy) Interestingly a few members have found the post 60 volunteering for 15 hours per week arrangement that kicks in post-retirement to be really useful and mutually beneficial. Addition to the Golf Clubhouse In August a dividing door separating the club bar area from the hall will be installed. We are hoping this will help keep the bar area warmer and more homely. We are restricting green fee player use of carts. Eight Ball Our club Eight baller’s are going from strength to strength. In the recent roster we had one team playing at the club each Tuesday- bringing 20 players. In the next roster we will be adding an additional table allowing 2 teams to play each week. It’s good to see the club being used “outside” of hours. A big thank you to Jade and Darren (and a couple of helpers) for running the bar and Duran, Jade and Scotty for getting this up and running. Pennant Our Div 2 pennant team captained by Dan Owens deserves much mention. Winning the NW final was a product of a massive come from behind win against a “hot favourite” Ulverstone at Thirlstane. In the next weekend state final’s we played Huonville at Mowbray and again converted a 1/6 down after nine holes into a 4/3 win. The Sunday match against Kings Meadows produced an official 5/2 loss but would have been close to 4/3 if all games had finished. Congratulations to Dan, Duran, Cameron, Jason, Andrew, Andrew and Peter for a great end of season. Looking forward to fielding 3 teams in next years roster. New Club Clothing Watch out for the club cap and beanie that will be for sale over the bar. Both good quality and design. Club shirts will be available via order. Thanks to Duran for this initiative. Small Changes to Fee Structure The Board has introduced a reduced green fee for Emergency services employees (Police, Ambulance and Fire Fighters) and confirmed the following fees.
